I was 14 years old when the first Dumb and Dumber film came out.  I remember being instantly drawn to the characters and the humor.  To this day, it’s an endlessly entertaining movie.  The kind of comedy I can come back to time and time again and know it will put a smile on my face.

I consider it to be one of the best comedies I’ve ever seen.  Needless to say, I’ve been anticipating a sequel for years.  When years of rumors finally turned into an actual film, I was excited, but understandably apprehensive. How could they possibly top the original?

Well, they didn’t.  Then again, how could they? Most sequels fail to recapture the magic of the original and that’s the case here.  It just proves how hard it is to make a memorable movie.  Sometimes everything truly has to break right. In the case of Dumb and Dumber, everything did.  Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey were on the top of their game and the film is packed with so many memorable quotes and scenes.

Dumb and Dumber To, has its moments of laughter, but quite a few jokes fall flat and there really aren’t any scenes that stand out.  In the end, it was a nice trip down memory lane with two characters I remember so fondly from my childhood, but it’s the nostalgic factor alone that makes Dumb and Dumber To worth seeing.  Everyone who isn’t a die-hard fan of Harry and Lloyd’s antics should probably wait to rent it.
